Ministries

Wherever we live, we seek opportunities to outreach in pastoral care of the sick, elderly and those with special needs, education and the wide scope of parish ministry. Every gift and talent can be used to enable the wholeness of persons.

Our Divine Motherhood charism enhances our desire to nurture life in all those we meet, and in the spirit of Saint Francis of Assisi who had a special love for the poor and marginalised, we strive to witness to Christ's loving presence among people we encounter in daily life.

No work of love is outside the Franciscan vocation - there is no gift or talent that cannot be taken and channelled for Christ within the FMDM calling. "To live according to the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ." This is what Saint Francis longed for with all his heart.

Spiritual Direction And Retreats

Sr. Florence Wong serves in the ministry of Spiritual Direction and Retreats in the Archdiocese of Singapore. Spiritual Direction is a contemplative listening and accompanying another on the spiritual journey. This ministry is a sacred calling and an awesome entrustment of tending the 'holy' within. It is an expression of our charism as a Franciscan Missionary of the Divine Motherhood, to be sister to assist another to conceive life through the Word of God, to bring to birth Christ and to nurture life.

Sr Florence also gives Individually Directed Retreats at Retreat Centres and facilitates Workshops for people in Midlife and in the later years of "Growing Older and Living Deeper." She views her ministry not as a separate entity, but as a whole in living her religious life contemplatively, gratefully, and joyfully in community.
