FMDM Associates - Singapore

The FMDM Sisters welcome married or single Catholics who desire to live the Gospel in the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi and through Commitment as an Associate to share in the FMDM Charism.

KENNETH LING made First commitment as FMDM Associate during Evening Prayer on 4 October 2010 in St. Francis Convent Chapel, Singapore. Kenneth expressed his desire "what I most wish is to live the Gospel in simplicity like St Francis, and to reach out to the poor."

Kenneth visits the elderly poor at St. Vincent's Home providing them with a cooked meal and he is also a Volunteer at Assisi Hospice.

CHARLES AND EVELYN LIM a married couple with three daughters made First Commitment as FMDM Associates on 26 April. Charles said "I am attracted to the warmth and friendliness of the sisters. Because of my love for nature and the simple life, I feel a natural affinity to the Franciscan spirituality and Way of Life." Charles is a Eucharistic Minister at the Church of the Risen Christ and an active member of small Christian community.

Evelyn Lim said "From what I read and learned about St Francis I am inspired by his simplicity, openness and courage to follow his dreams against all odds. In the present day I am also impressed by the example of the FMDM sisters, and desire to grow in the Franciscan spirituality and Mary's example of motherhood." Evelyn is an active member of small Christian Community and loves being a "home-maker".

NANCY CHUE made First Commitment as an FMDM Associate on 26 April together with Charles and Evelyn Lim. Nancy said "I want to learn to live as Francis lived in order to become a better person." Nancy is a Lector at the Holy Spirit Church, previously working with the RCIA Programme.

Currently there are a number of candidates in formation which covers a two year Associate Programme after which through a period of personal prayer and direction a candidate will request membership to become an FMDM Associate.
